Carlos and Gloria received their lot of land from Carlos’ father in 1993. The couple are very proud of their coffee and grateful for what it has given them: the chance to raise a family and offer them a future, and the chance to improve their quality of life. The greatest challenges the pair face are the same challenges faced by farmers across the region. The first is the cost of inputs and labor. The second is the weather which has been unusually cold and rainy in the last couple of years. The third is finding coffee pickers during harvest. Additionally, Finca El Porvenir is far from the main road and it is difficult to transport the coffee off the farm.
